In the late summer of 2005 the Daffodil Festival Beautification Committee began a bulb planting partnership with Route 17 Corridor businesses.  Since the Spring of 2006 we have enjoyed thousands of new blooms!  From the Coleman Bridge to Main Street the daffodils are popping up  everywhere.  Over 50,000 bulbs are now in the ground!

Other sites around the county that bloom because of Daffodil Festival projects:

  • The Welcome to Gloucester Sign on Route 17 near the Dragon Run will be yellow this spring!  5,000 daffodils were planted there by the Daffodil Festival Council Beautification Committee and the Sheriff's Inmate Workforce.
  • Pocahontas statue on Main Street - 2007 Gloucester Anniversary Garden - Red, White & Blue - 2008 expansion of daffodil beds and addition of summer blooming bulbs
  • Welcome to Historic Gloucester Court House sign - south end of the bypass - 2007 planted 4,000 daffodils, 2008 expanded bed with addition of summer blooming bulbs and 3,000 daffodils
  • the corner of Route 17 and Route 17 Business (south end of bypass)

  • donation of $1,000 to the State Champion 13-15 Babe Ruth Division Baseball Team
  • donation of $2,000 to the permanent Werowocomoco Exhibit in the Gloucester Visitor's Center (coming in fall of 2008
  • donation of $10,000 to Main Street Beautification
  • donation of over $15,000 for Gloucester Library meeting room
  • picnic shelter at Gloucester Point Beach Park
  • Stone markers were donated to the community flower bed at Flat Iron.
  • mowers and gardening equipment donated to the Sheriffs inmate work program
  • sponsor of Gloucester Citizen's Christmas and Holiday Parade
  • over $20,000 in scholarships
